From delivering the initial survey to some (not finished yet, will finish on Monday!) of Pinehurst over the past couple of days I have found at least one of the many walkways are missing. I was on Ware Road, next to Nags Head Close, checked Google Maps as to the quickest way to Hamels Drive and it told me a 25 minute walk, back down Ware Road, up Stansted Road with a left turn into Hamels Drive despite me having the 'I am walking' button turned on. Given there is a walkway that takes about 2 mins up to Hamels Drive immediately adjacent this seemed a bit strange.....
I have reported this walkway to Google as a missing 'road' (which I have explained is a walkway) but how many more pedestrian paths are missing in our area? And, more importantly do you know one and could we log it on Google Maps?
I know people who have lived here for a long time know where all of these paths exist but it would be good if they were all mapped so people who aren't so familiar are directed by the shortest route to encourage more walking and cycling.
Would some neighbourhood walk maps/routes be a good idea with points of interest clearly marked (such as the long barrow) and some signposts? The one below does look like it's seen better days!
