So, some time ago I met with the Kingsmead Residents Association and the Uncle Bulgaria of the Wombles of Hertford* About, Andy to discuss how we could decrease litter in Kingsmead.
WOMBLES????....
Andy started the Wombles of Ware Abouts during lockdown after seeing the litter on our streets and green spaces.
The Wombles of Hertfordabouts started relatively quickly after the Ware branch (although I have been told on the QT that many of the Ware wombles are actually Hertfordians 😀)
So, how does this involve KNP (& KRA)?
We've been wondering whether to organise a group litter pick in some of our green spaces such as the Pines, Foxholes woodland and the meads for a while but have been restricted due to Covid lock downs. We're still wondering whether people would like a one hour, monthly or two monthly organised litter pick where we tackle a green space; it's amazing just how much litter can be removed by a few people in an hour.

But, while this monthly pick would provide a quick fix for areas to get them mostly clear it does still need regular upkeep and we would really urge people to think about adopting a street and becoming a Womble....
So how do I become a womble?

Here’s the idea;
Pick a road, street, or path, near to home or work, and commit to litter pick it say every fortnight, or every month.
Then let the wombles know which patch you choose and we'll log it on our interactive map, and we'll get your area litter free in no time!
More than one womble can adopt a street as this way you can coordinate efforts and keep the street super clear!

What do you think? Would you like to womble a street and
